MILE OF PENNIES PROJECT
At its January meeting, members of Bethel Women’s Fellowship voted to sponsor a project dubbed ‘Mile of Pennies’. The purpose of the project: to collect a mile of pennies to support ‘ALL GOD’S CHILDREN CAMP’.
This camp is an international effort of the United Methodist Church to reach children of incarcerated parents. Its aim is to surround them with love and to introduce them to their God and Savior. Locally, the camp will be offered at Camp Overlook in Keezletown; and is scheduled to be held November 6 – 8, 2020. Those wishing to learn more about this camp may contact Nancy Bassett or email CampOverlook@gmail.com..
It would take 84,480 pennies laid with their sides touching to stretch one mile; and the total value would equal $844.80.
Thanks to all who supported the Women's Fellowship's 'Socktober' project. With your help, the group was able to deliver 77 pairs of socks to Elkton Mission House for the residents there.
Cold weather is here! If you would like to support Wes Monger's Homeless Ministry, you may bring the following items to the church: Hats, coats, socks, gloves, shoes, sweaters, sweatshirts & blankets. Items should be clean and in good repair. Dark colors are preferred.
Anyone who is willing to furnish cakes or pudding cups for the Meals at Heart program is asked to sign up as soon as possible. The list is on the bulletin board in the vestibule.
Super Souper Bowl Party
Bring your whole gang to munch a Souper lunch on February 2 right after church. Create a gift of food for our feathered friends by making a bird feeder for a child or shut-in to enjoy.
Let Amy or Dee know by January 26th if you can help supply birdseed, popcorn, onion bags, oranges, apples, peanut butter, etc. for the birds.
Canned goods and non-perishable foods will also be collected Souper Bowl day for the Elkton@Heart food pantry.
Speak to your children
Lord, I pray my grandchildren will be protected from the enemy.
(But first of all, they must know who you mean.)
Be self-controlled, and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith because you know your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.

We celebrated the dedication and lighting of our 48th annual Chrismon tree. It has been our custom to dedicate our tree to a deserving member or group of our congregation. This year's recipient is Pam Rhodes. Pam is currently serving on the Board of Directors. She has served in the past as a teacher of the early teens. This year, she has been in charge of several projects of the Board of Directors. Congratulations, Pam! --LMH

FAB & GAB
SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW
‘Fab & Gab’ has become an old term used to describe the activities performed on many Fridays at Bethel when a group meets to process fabric for Gift & Thrift. Sometimes, however, there is no fabric to be done. On those days, the group simply has not been meeting.
When Bethel Women’s Fellowship last met it was suggested that Fab & Gab, an offspring of WF, should meet every Friday and work on other projects when there is no fabric to be processed. Therefore, anyone who has some time and a heart for service is invited to gather in the social hall beginning at 9 am, or at any time after that when you are able to come, to help with whatever the group happens to be doing on any given Friday. So whether it’s something old, or something new, we hope you’ll join us soon.
KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE!
With all the dreary weather, the health issues, and sadness from loss of those near and dear that many of our friends and family have been dealing with recently, perhaps a big dose of ‘silver lining’ is just what we all needed. Well, The Doctors Glick and Phillips along with some of our own members delivered just that as Bethel celebrated 122 years on Sunday last.
Heartfelt comments and appreciation from Dianne Griffin, and looking at H-O-M-E-C-O-M-I-N-G from a different perspective through Stephanie Monger’s eyes brought a message and stirred memories that the 63 in attendance won’t soon forget. Thank you, ladies, for reminding us of what being a part of the Bethel family, whether in the past or present, means.
With the choir back in business, Cynthia on the piano bench, Jada and Bella lighting candles, Jonathan sharing the Word, and Pastor Dan pulling it all together, it really did feel like coming home after a summer with some of those things (people) missing.
The lunch buffet was bountiful and delicious as usual, of course; and the table decorations in the social hall and flowers in the sanctuary brought more sunshine to the day, as did the entertainment provided by The Doctors in the afternoon. And wasn’t it a special treat to find the clean up almost finished by the time the program was over!
Thank you, to each one who worked to make another day at Bethel special. As the old saying goes, the past is history, the future is a mystery, and the present is a gift. Let’s not waste or abuse it! Do your part, wherever you worship, to spread some Son shine in the world around you. jms
