about GOD Lord, I pray my grandchildren will be protected from the enemy. (But first of all, they must know who you mean.) Be self-controlled, and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith because you know your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. 1 Peter 5:8-9 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character“ 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared. July 21, 2019 Fab & Gab
meets at the church many Fridays) at 9 AM to sort, measure and price fabric to be sold for charity. Sometimes, there are other service projects on hand to try. Come work and enjoy the fellowship. Sunday, December 2, 2018
We celebrated the dedication and lighting of our 48th annual Chrismon tree. It has been our custom to dedicate our tree to a deserving member or group of our congregation. This year's recipient is Pam Rhodes. Pam is currently serving on the Board of Directors. She has served in the past as a teacher of the early teens. This year, she has been in charge of several projects of the Board of Directors. Congratulations, Pam! --LMH Thank You to everyone who helped make this year's Fall Bazaar a wonderful day! Weekly EventsEvery Sunday:
Sunday School - 10:00 AM Worship Service - 11:00 AM Sunday Bible Study at Bethel - 6:30 PM Bible Study at Journey's Crossing Every Thursday (except the first) at 2 PM Journey's Crossing is located at 102 N Stuart Avenue in Elkton. All are welcome to join in around the table! FAB & GAB SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW ‘Fab & Gab’ has become an old term used to describe the activities performed on many Fridays at Bethel when a group meets to process fabric for Gift & Thrift. Sometimes, however, there is no fabric to be done. On those days, the group simply has not been meeting. When Bethel Women’s Fellowship last met it was suggested that Fab & Gab, an offspring of WF, should meet every Friday and work on other projects when there is no fabric to be processed. Therefore, anyone who has some time and a heart for service is invited to gather in the social hall beginning at 9 am, or at any time after that when you are able to come, to help with whatever the group happens to be doing on any given Friday. So whether it’s something old, or something new, we hope you’ll join us soon. KEEP ON THE SUNNY SIDE!
With all the dreary weather, the health issues, and sadness from loss of those near and dear that many of our friends and family have been dealing with recently, perhaps a big dose of ‘silver lining’ is just what we all needed. Well, The Doctors Glick and Phillips along with some of our own members delivered just that as Bethel celebrated 122 years on Sunday last. Heartfelt comments and appreciation from Dianne Griffin, and looking at H-O-M-E-C-O-M-I-N-G from a different perspective through Stephanie Monger’s eyes brought a message and stirred memories that the 63 in attendance won’t soon forget. Thank you, ladies, for reminding us of what being a part of the Bethel family, whether in the past or present, means. With the choir back in business, Cynthia on the piano bench, Jada and Bella lighting candles, Jonathan sharing the Word, and Pastor Dan pulling it all together, it really did feel like coming home after a summer with some of those things (people) missing. The lunch buffet was bountiful and delicious as usual, of course; and the table decorations in the social hall and flowers in the sanctuary brought more sunshine to the day, as did the entertainment provided by The Doctors in the afternoon. And wasn’t it a special treat to find the clean up almost finished by the time the program was over! Thank you, to each one who worked to make another day at Bethel special. As the old saying goes, the past is history, the future is a mystery, and the present is a gift. Let’s not waste or abuse it! Do your part, wherever you worship, to spread some Son shine in the world around you. jms |
